PostHeaderIcon A Basic Introduction to Chiropractic

Chiropractic is a separate and distinct science, art, and philosophy of health and healing. It is aimed at finding and correcting the cause of pain and disease in the body, and is the largest natural healing art in the world. It is based on the premise that the body is a self healing organism and that the nervous system is the master control system of the body.  Minor displacements of the spinal bones, known as vertebral subluxations, can cause endangering stress to the spinal cord which acts as the main line of intelligence for the whole body. These displacements, or subluxations, are the cause of many of the unwanted health conditions that people suffer from every day.

 How Does Chiropractic Work?

Doctors of Chiropractic specialize in detecting, reducing, and preventing nervous system interference for people of all ages.  By using carefully directed and controlled pressure techniques (adjustments), your spine and nervous system are gently restored to their proper function.  This allows you to reach your optimum health potential.
A chiropractic adjustment is the art of using a specific force in a precise direction, applied to a joint that is fixated, "locked up", or not moving properly. This adds motion to the joint, helping the bones gradually return to a more normal position and motion. The purpose of this safe and natural procedure is improved spinal function, improved nervous system function, and improved health.

Chiropractic Misconceptions

Chiropractic is not cracking people’s bones or joints.  There are techniques in which audible sounds are made when replacing a misaligned bone.  This is caused by a release of gas from the joint space - not from insult to ligaments or other joint structures.  However, there are techniques in which no sound is produced nor expected;  nor is there any twisting or turning of the spine. Scott uses a variety of techniques ranging from extremely gentle to more traditional adjusting to suite your needs.
